No Wax Floor Cleaners – Don’t use harsh cleaners. Make your own instead.
No Wax Finishes – Don’t use a no wax finish if it contains oil, soap, or silicone. This type of no wax finish will attract dust and dirt, and you’ll need to clean your no wax linoleum more often.
No Wax Furniture Polish – Don’t use a store bought polish containing oil, soap, or silicone or you’ll attract more dust and dirt. Look for a no wax furniture polish that repels dust and fingerprints.
No Wax Floor Cleaners
The best no wax floor cleaner, by itself, will not make your floor shine. Cleaners are not designed to make floors shine. Besides, there’s no reason to purchase a no wax floor cleaner when you can make your own. Don’t use harsh store bought cleaners that contain ammonia, or you may slowly remove the surface of your no wax floors along with the dirt and grime. First, try just plain warm water, or a few drops of mild dish detergent mixed in water. Liquid dish soap may leave a film, so if you use it, you should follow up with a damp mop and water. For more thorough cleaning, add one cup of vinegar to one gallon of water. Vinegar is safe for no wax floors, although should not be used on hardwood or bamboo.
No Wax Finishes
The best no wax finishes will leave no wax build up. If they do, you’re using the wrong kind of no wax finish. Paste waxes and store bought polishes are notorious for wax build up and yellowing. Don’t buy a wax or polish containing oil, soap, or silicone. These ingredients will actually attract dust and dirt, so you’ll be cleaning your no wax floors more often. Go with a clear, water-based no wax finish. They work great on no wax linoleum, and last for months. They make scratches less noticeable, and protect your no wax floors from yellowing while leaving no wax build up.
No Wax Furniture Polish
The best no wax furniture polish will leave no wax build up and never yellow. However, some store bought no wax furniture polishes contain oil, soap, or silicone which will attract more dust and dirt. Some no wax finishes will repel dust and fingerprints, and protect your no wax linoleum from stains and scratches.
Be more cautious when you’re cleaning or restoring antique furniture. There’s a good chance that antique furniture, actually most furniture, will have years and years of oil rubbed into them, so you’ll need to clean the furniture more thoroughly before you apply a no wax finish. Otherwise, the finish will not stick to the oil or soap. Be sure the surface is clean of oil or soap before you begin.
